201 Stainless Steel Plate/Sheet
201 stainless steel is a lower-cost alternative to traditional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as 304. Containing a higher percentage of manganese and nitrogen, it offers moderate corrosion resistance and higher yield strength. 201 stainless steel is less resistant to corrosion than 300 series alloys and can be susceptible to pitting in chloride environments. It’s widely used for decorative applications like architectural trims, automotive trim, and kitchen equipment. Heat Treatment
Annealing: Anneal at 1850 – 1950 °F (1010 – 1066 °C), then water quench or rapidly air cool.
The annealing temperature should be kept as low as possible, consistent with the desired properties, because Type 201 tends to scale more than Type 301
